I've always liked Bob McNamara. He wasn’t perfect by any means but his mien, achievements, poise and brilliance were admirable qualities.
Kennedys choice of choosing McNamara as his Secretary of Defence turned out to be a bad choice as his time in the position with Kennedy and Johnson caused the Viet Nam fiasco. Trying to run the war from Washington was stupid.

If you look at the differences between the governments led by President Truman, President Kennedy and President Lyndon Baines Johnson, during Kennedy's time leading the United States the problems were the cold war, communism and the feud in Cuba (Fidel Castro), while during Johnson's leadership the war between the United States and Vietnam, while led by President Truman, was the second world war. but the most difficult thing when the United States was led by Kennedy and Johnson was the internal conflict within the United States regarding discrimination and segregation against black people in the United States until the birth of black figures in the United States named Martin Luther King Jr., Medgar Evers who requested that the United States Government equalize them as United States Civilians who are Free and have the same Sovereignty as the white people of the United States who are Free and have their Civil Rights protected and this is what made President Kennedy through the Kennedy Foundation protect their human rights for minorities Black people should have their rights protected as Free Citizens because they have the same equality before the law as in the last sentence of the United States Declaration of Independence in 1776 which was initiated by President Thomas Jefferson. Live, Liberty and Persuit of Happiness.

The BEST and the BRIGHTEST, unfortunately, led us down into the quagmire of Vietnam, and we were soon trapped into a useless, senseless, unnecessary, unwinnable war that should NEVER have been fought by anyone! But the Yale and Harvard grads exhibited Group-think and their conventional opinions were NOT those of most Americans. The Vietnamese would've been our friends if we had backed their liberation from French imperialism! It's sad really.

Roosevelt through WW2 victory set stage for modern global empire. Truman set the agencies to execute global dominice. JfK used brains to negotiate. LBJ and over educated Havard men lied about a war that negotiating and massive fire power did not work
