Yes America lost the war but I think it's also important to point out North Vietnam was propped up by their massive communist neighbor to the north.

Dude, I mean, we did win the war. But now with the control of the government from the North, which is the communist party of Vietnam. Life sucks, I swear, it's literally China but lighter version. Corruptions everywhere you can imagine. The people are brainwashed so hard that these corrupted elite leaders have been sucking up so much money that the growth is just fake growth. And yet they still believe in the guidance of them. How irony.

There is no perfect political system, not Communism in Vietnam or Capitalism in other Western countries. I know many people still think that Communism is dictatorial, demagogic, and some think that we have no human rights or freedom. I can only say that I am satisfied and happy enough with living in Vietnam, it is not perfect, no place is perfect but enough for me to feel happy and I have enough freedom that I need.

I graduated from college in June of 1968. I immediately became 1-A or eligible for the draft. I was drafted into the US Army in October, 1968. I opposed the war from its escalation by LBJ after he lied about the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. Despite my opposition to Johnson and the war, I didn’t resist the draft because my options, going to jail or Canada didn’t seem like workable alternatives . I was sent to Vietnam in March, 1969 and I was scheduled for a year deployment. However, in May, 1969 my elderly father became very sick. The Army sent me home to be with him on a temporary leave. I thought they would send me back to Vietnam when my father passed but I applied for “compassionate reassignment “ which I was granted in June, 1969. I was granted this reassignment to Ft. Monmouth, NJ about 75 miles from my home where I remained until my discharge from the Army in August, 1970 to begin what would become my 42 year career as a High School US History teacher. In conclusion, I always believed Vietnam was both an illegal and immoral war. I still despise LBJ despite his great work domestically. I survived thankfully but the Vietnam War will always remain a horrible event which killed, wounded and disrupted the lives of countless Americans including myself.

This is a peice of history I never knew until I left America and lived in Vietnam ( my wife’s account) after America raped and destroyed everything and left , the Russians came in and helped Vietnam fight the Chinese invasion, and helped Vietnam rebuild everything for free , and let Vietnam keep there independence.. that’s why they have Lenin’s face everywhere, and statues of Lenin and Ho Chi Minh shaking hands are in shools, and Russians don’t need a visa to enter , but Americans need a visa, and makes sense why Vietnam is hardcore communist like russia

The propaganda part about Catholics being persecuted is actually somewhat true. My greatgrandma before she died had first hand account of homes being raided and practicing Christianity being denounced for a period before she fled to the south.
