This isn’t a straightforward story to inform, it’s a story of nice struggling, a narrative of households destroyed. In the course of the Vietnam Conflict, the U.S. army sprayed greater than 20 million gallons of herbicides over Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. That herbicide was Agent Orange. It contained dioxin, some of the poisonous chemical substances recognized to man. It was a textbook definition of ‘chemical warfare’. Within the mid-Sixties, docs in Vietnam began noticing the growing variety of infants born with extreme deformities. Half a century later, the bodily and psychological impression that this poisonous chemical continues to have on so many harmless folks is a reminder of the true price of warfare. That is the story of Agent Orange in Vietnam, and its tragic legacy.
