So for all Long Term visas one of the most important questions to ask would be how would taxes work?
Great video Chris. Thanks for providing such helpful information for someone considering spending some extended time in Thailand. Until the next one…..
That was great Chris. Thanks. I have been thinking about that program and this gives me a good source to get my questions answered. Always a pleasure.
Virtually all countries around the world (including the US and UK) have "wealth visas" …… In other words, you have so much money that you will never need to work in that country. As long as you can prove that, you are entry stamped all the way. Off hand, I cannot remember but I seem to recall that the one for the US was about $3,000,000 sat in an easy access account (should not include business, private property, shares ….. This is strictly just cash).
If you travel in/out of Thailand via Samui you don’t get the elite service. You queue with everyone else.
I have the Privilege visa. It’s not true that there is zero visa process during the lifetime of the visa. I still need to do 90 day reports and every year I must get a new 1 year stamp which costs around 1800thb + my time + paperwork. Each immigration office I have dealt with also has their own random version of what documents (and how many of each) is required as well. not complaining I’m just saying it’s not all bells and whistles
Cost wise, the previous 1M thb for 20 years made sense. It actually saved money in most cases.
Now it would be 900k x 4 (3.6m thb) which in my opinion, is still ok, but not great value unless you have considerable discretionary funds.
Insane price. No thanks.😂
I just got an email from the Penang Thai Embassy. I previously mailed them asking for the DTV visa, my big doubt was whether the 500K needed to be in a Thai bank or not, and this is what the answered: "The bank account can be either a Thai bank account or your home country's account."
Sorry mate but you have missed a big point – Taxation. Thailand is not the place to retire anymore. Great to live and work there like you and others in same business, but not for retirees. Starting 2025 Thailand taxes the income of retired Expats (including Pensions), while all the other countries in SEAsia do not. Hopefully Thailand will change their mind, but as it is starting on Jan 2025 Expats have been told to pay income taxes on the money they bring to Thailand from Jan 2024 onwards. Thailand also wants to implement worldwide taxation, so even if you dont remit the money to Thailand they want to tax it. No way mate – mo matter how good their Visas are – for retired Expats Thailand is not the best option (we are leaving).
Is that your opinion or fact
high paid services that only super rich afford
Canadians realized high taxes are too much
Unless they add the Tax Exemption attached with the Privilege visa like the LTR, it’s a useless visa. DTV is way better.
only idiots will go for this bullshit! it is overprized and typically shows the greediness of the Thais….the land of the fake smiles. NO THANK YOU!
i has use elite visa but have only big scam, waste stupid only lot money, not help you anythink, same paper work you need do ewery year and same 90 day report you need do ewerytime, not help you any if stay retiree in thailand, i have own house, new car, wife and childrens in thailand but hate alltime need make ewery year same paper work have elite or marry visa not help you anythink only waste lot money. were have visa can stay next 30 year in thailand live whit my thai family whitout alltime visa fee and visa problems. i not ewer can go back to my home country not have anythink in there. all have in Thailand. but visa have big idiot system need change all to normal human visa system, if have house invest in thailand or marry need be normal FREE visa in thailand. who totally idiot has build this stupid visa system need delete.
Thanks mate
because we're smiling to everyone and all foreigner, finally we hope another counties will also open the gate for us by free visa too…
Why is he dressed like a street boy? It is not polite!
News flash. You don’t need an agent EVER to get and keep any Thai visa. Do you really want to pay an overpriced agent for every visa and renewal? Agents are only for the lazy, stupid, and/or filthy rich expats looking to live in Thailand.
Yeah that's a hard pass….. Most people don't want that visa ..Fake prestige..
nah, too expensive 🥱👎
Why would you want a Elite visa (is this sponsored content) ?? No working online rights (DTV does).. LTR gives zero income tax.. High cost, glorified tourist visa, short term driving licenses etc.
Elite is toast, I just dont see it has any value now that 5 year DTV's and LTR's are on the menu.
I think the holy grail, gold standard of Thailand visas is the marriage visa. Why? It doesn’t lock you out of getting a work permit. It’s cheap and can be renewed annually. Also, you can use it and a work permit together to apply for Thai citizenship after several years if that’s what you want and if you otherwise qualify.
With the Visa you also need to pay this clown and his minions. Half the price and no service would be a winner.
I hear health insurance is mandatory and costs quite a bit.
For my situation this sounds very good. I'm 66 and have 2 pre-existing medical conditions that will keep me from getting health insurance in Thailand. I don't need to have insurance to get this Privilege Visa and I have enough money that I don't need insurance given the health care costs in Thailand.
And I looked at the income tax situation. If I brought over my $3,000 monthly US Social Security check, and they DID tax it on the Thai income tax scale, it would only be about $400 a month, leaving me $2,600 a month to live on. I can live better in Thailand on $2,600 a month than I can in the U.S. on $3,000 a month. I'm not seeing the problem here.
I love this privilège card
no 90 day reporting?
More like Elite Sucker Visa. They jacked up the price 50% right before announcing DTV. Even if you extend the DTV every 6 months for 5 years, your total including initial visa fee is only 20k baht. Compare 900k to 20k. Please tell me how Elite is worth 45x more than DTV.
The Thai people are so considerate and caring! 😊❤❤❤
Get infomercial. Please explain the benefits you are receiving from promoting this product. It's good journalism to be open about any financial gain you receive. Also, as this is about visas, why it's there some comparisons or options for the other visas no matter how small. This type of visa may fine for the more affluent person.
I love the "Mad Dawg! 😂❤…
Just checked their website, the prices are outrageous for visa!! Two hundred thousand plus canadian dollar for twenty years!! Off course their are loads of benefits, but probably I can buy them for a fraction of what I would pay. ✌🏾
