The Chairperson of the Indonesia Highway Improvement Affiliation (HPJI), Hedy Rahadian, suggested the subsequent authorities to optimize railway and sea routes to assist logistics and enhance highway connectivity and infrastructure.
“Highway transport is extra environment friendly for brief distances, however for medium-haul distances, railways are extra environment friendly. Sea routes are extra environment friendly for long-distance logistics,” he defined.
He made these remarks on the “Discussing the New Authorities’s Strategic Program and Options In the direction of Golden Indonesia 2045” seminar on Wednesday.
Rahadian famous that 20 p.c of logistics distribution in developed European nations is performed by railways and 10 p.c by sea routes, whereas the remaining 70 p.c is dealt with by roads or highways.
In distinction, 90 p.c of logistics distribution in Indonesia is dealt with by roads or highways, he added.
Rahadian expressed optimism that the subsequent authorities will create insurance policies to assist logistics distribution.
“At the moment, a presidential decree on the nationwide logistics system is being drafted; we hope it will likely be continued,” he added.
Rahadian famous that the subsequent authorities might want to tackle three logistics challenges: the shortage of distribution traces, congestion, and overloaded vans.
