We’re going to debate this instagram put up and get your ideas on the matter… “These ‘third world nations’ should not actually THAT third world. I’m in Thailand proper now. And it’s ironic as a result of folks from 1st world nations assume it’s unsafe, harmful, soiled and very poor… non-modernised and undeveloped. However THOSE descriptions are of the first world nowadays” – Instagrammer ‘impaulee’
So are the phrases ‘first world’ or ‘third world’ related anymore? Are the third world nations catching up and surpassing dwelling requirements in lots of western nations nowadays? Why are folks dwelling in ‘third world’ nations typically happier? We wish your ideas on the matter right now.

Christmas is on Tuesday the 24th in Scandinavia Tim 😊 merry christmas to you 🙏
thailand is not third world. i am american my wife is 100% thai. i feel burirom is safer and cleaner than most anywhere.and burirom is a countryside town
This definition of 3rd world etc. being described as the modern definition or no definition is absolute rubbish. The definition is very real and strict, it may well be outdated but the fact is that first world countries are those that are members of NATO or politically allied with NATO. Second world are those that are members of the Warsaw Pact or politically allied with the Warsaw Pact. And Third world are all countries not members of the other two.
That is the definition it's not up for debate or revision. That's it it's a fact.
As I said it may be out dated, well it's absolutely outdated in fact but it's not something that is open to interpretation.
And given that the Warsaw pact does not really exist anymore it's clear that today there are only 1st world and 3rd world countries.
UK are still in Europa and always will be, although no longer in the EU. HUGE difference and should never be mistaken.
If you are a Thai. It's probably a very laid back life. However we are NOT Thai AND never will be. Just saying..
There are people in Bangkok living third, second and first world conditions depending on what suburb your in. Great show again Tim. Tim I'm sure you realise the wealthy people here in Australia are paying less tax than us middle class who are struggling with our mortgages and the cost of living, and have no opportunity to avoid taxes with the various tax avoidance schemes. This situation has been in the media here this week.
Great Topics to day, I agree about early Singapore, Hong Kong, and Thailand, i.e., Bangkok, I had agents in each for buying fabrics for my fashion label, "Exclusively Yours." I fell in love with Bangkok before and after , They saw what I saw , Friendships that grew and have lasted several generations, Cannot wait for 2025 to get back , Armed with Goodies. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND ALL YOUR FAMILY AND WONDERFUL GROUP ,EM,🤗💙😊
UK is evolving into a third world country. Public donations to charities prop up public health services that would collapse otherwise. Multiculturalism and integration does not work. The indigenous population feels like they are being ignored/neglected
Yes you are fine living off your American dollars from youtube. If you were living on Thai wage life would be struggle.
Thanks Tim… very interesting.. I often catch the train from Bangkok to surin, 8 hours but I love the old diesel train ❤ .. my immigration office is amazing i just sign the forms and they do the rest for me… quick and easy for me ✌️
Just fix the damm sidewalks, that would be a good start for now. Bangkok to Pattaya, I think I've seen maybe a couple that would be considered good
The uk is becoming a third world country
The problem with this theory is that most south east Asian countries have one capital city with pockets of world class infrastructure, the rural areas are still very much developing. If you took every major capital city in Australia and combined it in one, it would beat Bangkok hands down. Bangkok is only 10% of Thailand.
27:11 … Happiness. So right and so good to place it as the most important, Tim. Thank you.
"It is difficult to find the luck inside of us, and it is torally impossible to find it anywhere else"
What the Western world has Thailand has it and even better! But money still talks. If you're rich, you become even richer.
Look modern on the surface, but if you just visit the capital cities and think that the whole country is that way you will find it’s not. Thailand is modern on the surface but if you peel back the layers. You will find people in poverty. You will find low education, a government that can not care or airport all its citizens. The west is not as nice as it was but there is a reason so many people want to live there.
I wish there would be less danger of geting electro cutted or hit by traffic when walking arround and less danger to brake a foot in a sinkhole in Thailand. The level to recycle things and the the number of purification plants need to be improved. Still each year more than 200 Million one way plastic bags are used. Electricity is made 3/4 with oil and gas, fossil! Solar, Wind and hydro energy together makes less than 1% ! Much space for improvements 🙏🏻
the mass transit is non existent in CM. no enforcement of the burning in the north during the smog season.
Isn't the fact, that Thailand is classified as third world country referred to the gross domestic product (GDP) ? Thailands is 1/8 of a first World county. But as Tim said, money isn't everything
Agree totally. Would even claim that Thailand is perhaps the only one country deserving the classification `first world`!
Here for the GREAT SHIRT comments. seems tha sheep are asleep today as i fail to see one. LOL. Merry xmas.
Forbes 2024 reports :
( Over 12500 expats living in 53 cities across 35 countries )
Number 1 = Bangkok ❤️
The Best city to live in Asia
Number 6 = Bangkok ❤️
The Best city to live in the World
Merry Christmas 🎄❤🎁
and Welcome to the third World country 💕🎄👍🎊🎉
Thank you for not making a brake, Tim !!!
😂 every third world country has a city and good internet in it mate he should try taking a walk under the train rails and next to it
Until Thailand modernizes it's agriculture industry and eliminates the burning season it will be considered a third world country.
Late to the party Tim. Lol. Spent a delightful day sipping cocktails in Sathorn with family. 😊. Thailand definately not a 3rd world country, fortunate to be living here over 10 years already. 😊 Great content today. I thank you. 😊
In Bangkok, when you walk a short distance from an incredibly modern and opulent mall, you're on a street that is filthy, with huge rats circulating through any random collection of rubbish. Your nostrils get assaulted with an horrendous sewage stench every 10 metres.
You'll see 5 star hotels situated metres away from extreme poverty.
It's a bizarre place.
Ergo Tim could be Sheridan
He's a good guy. I follow him. Loves Thailand very much.
Th USAhas no room to talk. For medical care we are # 69 out of 101 on the list. Happy holidays. Appreciate you very much.
Maybe a first country is more developed about human rights..?
THAILAND IS THE BEST 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Internet is better there than EU, UK by far!!!
Yes, Air Canada is currently the only airline offering direct (non-stop) flights from North America to Thailand (Vancouver – Bangkok). It's about 16.5 hours using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. I took this flight last year.
Thanks Tim, not giving advice? well sometimes, but Good Intelligent advice, thank you. The terms used these days are usually low and middle income and high income countries, still does not fit perfectly but I think is probably the best. Many countries – China, Thailand fit the middle income – but higher middle income. So China may one day be the biggest economy but still middle income. Income per capita is not too much higher than Thailand. I don' think 500 million people went into the middle class, I think they went from absolute poverty to relative poverty which made them able to join the migrant workers who then totalled 150 million. many slipped back due to the GFC, and of course many more slipped back during Covid. Yes 100 million maybe a lot more managed to get through to lower middle class, and overall there is a big middle class. But the most official figures I have currently are 900 million living under $300 a day (see Keyju Jin). The economy is not doing well.
Thanks for a great show and topic, Tim 👍 what is your email? I am thinking about taking a trip over the bridge some day in the new year so thought maybe I will go by your beach and invite you on a coffee if you feel like it?😊
He is a YouTuber also, I watched a few shows of his.
Years ago, it changed from first and second and third world to now it’s only two categories, developed nation and developing nation… it’s not measured by big buildings or the coffee shop or cars on the street. If you google
Thanks Tim.

Corruption levels are a good metric to evaluate different countries. For example, in a first world country I could expect the local and international law to apply to me without favour. In a 2nd world country I could expect to bribe my way out of a legal issue and in a 3rd world country I would never get arrested or stopped in the first place. On that scale Thailand is somewhere between level 2 and 3.
Hi Tim, love your content.
I think saying that the measure of a "first world country" is an industrialised economy is an inflexible definition.
If there's a need for the label then perhaps it should be countries that are on the cutting edge of technlogy and that involves an investment in their populations education and skill levels.
Just because a country has a good looking capital city isn't the mark.
peculiar scene unfolded in Pattaya when a foreign visitor was apprehended after an unusual attempt to dispose of a traffic ticket. This muscular traveller, who was riding a motorcycle shirtless and without a helmet, was stopped by police at a checkpoint situated in front of the Pattaya police station.
You probably made 1000 episodes foreigners behaving badly inThailand which is becoming a joke . Only make it hard for those who do the right thing eventually they might make visas harder for foreigners
Merry Christmas Tim cheers 🍻 from Australia Sunshine Coast
Thumbs up 👍 Tim……every country has areas that maybe considered “3rd world” so labeling countries as a whole is completely inaccurate 😎
This Paul Lee character is just another YouTube personality selling dreams. Barely get into the video before he starts selling his “learn how I make money remotely” scam. There is way too many of the conmen here now. All selling consultations and lies about working and living here. Tim love your content. Need more folks like you providing value. You are a man of real value.
Well in my opinion isn't that great, that you tolerate many disgusting things of Thailand it would be more accurate. Thailand was great 10 years ago, unfortunately things aren't the same as it used to be anymore.
