Myanmar is now 4 years right into a civil warfare that exhibits no signal of abating. Following an October 2023 offensive within the north-eastern state Shan, the navy junta, referred to as the State Administrative Council (SAC), misplaced management over swathes of territory on the border with China.
In early April the border city Myawaddy, an necessary transit level for the circulate of products between Thailand and Myanmar, fell beneath the management of the Karen individuals, an ethnic minority group that has been battling the central authorities for many years. As of late April, Myawaddy was again beneath SAC management. The state of affairs stays risky.
On the opposite facet of Myanmar, on the western border with Bangladesh, an armed ethnic group named the Arakan Military is giving the SAC navy a tough time.
The governing junta is on the backfoot and beneath immense strain in Myanmar’s border areas, solely in a position to launch retaliatory assaults from the air or with long-range artillery.

Bro its like hell here everything is not safe and we aren't having power and they are coming to mandalay😭
Yes…. I live in myanmar 😢
We are friends? I like the information but…
So the conflict in Myanmar is decades old and is between one group versus the rest of the country (similar to the recent but deadly Ethiopian civil war in 2022). Unlike the Ethiopian civil war, the group targeted in Myanmar isn’t being targeted for holding on to there guns, but because they are a minority group different from the rest of the country (it’s the Muslim majority group versus everyone else).
😢😢
Another example why a nation should NEVER give up their right to civilian owned firearms.

Thanks 🙏🙏🙏
Myanmar is not destroying itself. It is creating a democratic country.
One thing people should know is that part of the reason why the Tatmadaw most likely acted so late with the coup was Suu Kyi and her fellow civilians lost a significant amount of international recognition due to inaction, at least, over the Rohingya issue.
The Gaza supporters love shouting the G word vs Israel, but before the coup in Feb. 2021 the military of the government of Myanmar, with Suu Kyi as its de facto leader, either pursued or allowed actual large scale violence on the Rohingya. You do not have massive displacement like that for anything less than organized, systemic violence.
Suu Kyi's inaction, and even seeming agreement with the G-cide of the Rohingya even led to her being stripped of various awards and honors from Western institutions.
As the face of the opposition to the Junta, they probably thought that, with Suu Kyi being a pariah herself over the Rohingya issue, that it would be safe to take her out of power.
In a way, they're right: this has barely gotten attention in the West, so much less than the Palestinians are getting. I wonder why?
So now there's an outright civil war.
Don't even ask why ASEAN hasn't acted. You have to understand: we're not the EU. Not even that. It's more a club than anything, although citizens or ASEAN countries enjoy Visa-less travel within the organisation for a limited time.
Damn. I thought the Judean People's Front was going to be named for a minute!
In 2007 Saffron Revolution, the monks and citizens were cracked down as in 1988. Live ammunitions into crowds , night raids and executions.
I'll admit I don't really bother keeping up with the goings on in SEA, but I didn't even know Burma had changed its name until I tried to figure out where, specifically, Myanmar was. Apparently Rangoon is now called Yangon now? Brilliant.

Help myanmar people. pls😢
Struggle for power after colonialism is always a big issue
Do you think Myanmar civil wars is consequences of 1947 Pinlon Agreement because Burma Communist Party leaders Thakin Soe and Thakin Than Tun regarded 1948 Myanmar Independence was not true and it was same as Japanese independence for Myanmar so , they started rebellion and all involved in Pinlon Agreement are responsible for 78 years Myanmar Civil Wars?
This is plagiarized from the CFR’s article on the conflict
Please stop the war USA we need president Trump back
Despite some factual errors here and there and some significant events overlooked, this is still one of the best and most accurate videos I've seen explaining the situation here in Myanmar.
I appreciate your hard work to attempt to unravel this mess and present it in a way that allows the average person to gain a reasonable understanding of our plight.
Never trust a commie.
You pronounced Karen incorrectly. It is pronounced the same as Karenni without the -ni. Good coverage overall.
Yo put these new videos in the podcast tab or else I can't see it on YouTube music under podcasts 😂
Wait! PDF is not a terrorist group or something. It has been organized form Myanmar people and you miss the point to mention the military is a terrorist group. And you are mentioning it over and over as a civil war and you are just saying haphazardly not knowing what the military did nationwide. I also wanna say that we are fighting back the military coup and trying to restore DEMOCRACY. Just keep that in your mind and change the way you guys think about Myanmar.
sad how the world only cares for white victims i.e, ukraine, isra el not Sudan, myanmar, drCongo
All they had to do was share.
Thank you for this excellent coverage
The image at 3:02 of the Ryingar people. Do you have a source please? Was watching this on my phone and wondered wether it was a photograph or painting
RIP JSTARK
I had a bamar gf, she kinda explained to me the same as you, kudos bro, this topic is very uncovered so, its nice to see real knowledge regarding the beautiful and (probably) cursed mynamar
Could you do a episode on the top 100 mercenary companies of history
The US Civil War was probably the MOST 2-sided Civil War in history
TLDR; the British suck. Much more DR, stop just blaming the British. Things have gotten so much worse since those British bastards left
Sounds like Thailand (Prayut) took some tactics from Myanmar to put him and the army in the politics too.
You know it's gotten bad when they have an army of Karen's…. I can't even imagine
Fun fact: "Myan" is a synonym for "Bamar". The name "Myanmar" is no more inclusive than "Burma" was. Junta sleight-of-hand. The Tatmadaw is soullessly sadistic, pure evil.
It's "ka–REN", they're one of the few Catholic ethnicities in Myanmar.
