Past the Taiwan Strait, tensions within the South China Sea have additionally been escalating. Repeated clashes between Chinese language and Philippine vessels are intensifying, resulting in extra cooperation between Manila and Washington. At this time, we’re asking: Has the South China Sea changed the Taiwan Strait as the largest flashpoint between the U.S. and China? This episode is the second present recorded at Nationwide Chengchi College in Taipei on Could 3.

Does this means that china will have a civil war in 50 years because right now they are where america was 50 years ago at least in terms of calling it the biggest global potency/economy
Give china rights over its people ( Taiwan ) There is no such group as Taiwanese!!!! With respect to separatist Chinese people living on the Taiwan Island of China. This is the language that should be spoken at large. Once this language is established. Go forth and say to mainland China. China we the international community will not respect your Maritime bullying and expansion of your border to allow you new world order advantage. #All shores should have 30 mile buffer zone from coastal water to mainland shore for any sovereign territory.
If they dont want peace, so be it…we stand for our democracy and protect our sovereignty, god bless Philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
It is important to clarify that the Philippines and China do not stand on equal footing here. China is illegally encroaching into the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines, which is a maritime exclusion area defined by UNCLOS, and the Philippines is rightfully defending its rights as any country in that position should. China and the Philippines are not competing for space that is up for grabs in the South China Sea. On the contrary, China was found by the International Arbitration Court in the Hague to have violated international law by claiming waters, shoals, and atolls that do not belong to it.

The archives going from the 1880s until the late 1970s demonstrate that it is the view of the British and French legal experts that as a matter of the international law territory, the Xisha Islands and the Nansha Islands are Chinese territory. That is to say, the Chinese claims and activities on the islands far exceeded in intensity of those of any other country during the period, except for the French, whose own lawyers challenged the actions of France, which, in any case, subsequently withdrew.
The most important French foreign minister of the inter-war period Aristide Briand, who was foreign minister most of the time between 1918 and his death in 1932, took the view that the Xisha Islands were clearly Chinese. And he consulted with the independent Jurisconsult of the Foreign Ministry, Jules Basdevant, subsequently a French judge on the International Court of Justice. The latter wrote that according to the Island of Palmas case, the Xisha Islands were recognized as Chinese. Subsequently, French legal advice was that France never completed an effective occupation of the Spratlys [the Nansha Islands], and they abandoned them completely in 1956. In the 1930s they recognized that these Spratlys [the Nansha Islands] had always been home to Chinese fisherman from Hainan Island and Guangdong. There had never been any Vietnamese or Philippine connection and French interference had only been in its own name and not that of Vietnam. It is the British who then drew a decisive conclusion, from all the French and British records available, that the Chinese were the owners of the Spratlys [the Nansha Islands], a legal position certified as part of British Cabinet records in 1974.

The Chinese coast Guard is classified as a branch of the PLA…. So what are you talking about that activities in the SCS is not military?
China must leave in our sea's both west and east side…
China is expansionist country, dispute with almost every neighbourhood
Taiwan is a part and province of China China has the sole absolute right to exercise its sovereignty over Taiwan no foreign power or any other power that interfere in the internal affairs of China shall stop that
Phillipines is not a dirty country as ine of the comment say, we still have clean seas dirtied by china, we have clean air and sorroundings. We Filipinos are intelligent and edycated , goid un english language. We are not the poirest but instead a developing the one who commented the Phil is dirty try to visit our place. Even during covid times we have less covid patients rhan other dirty countries. We are brave and will fight and is always ready to fight if other countries will try to invade
As far as i know our govt.is keen on lodging again another case againts china, but this time its about environmental damage. China has caysed so much damage on philippine waters with all those reclamations and delapudated choral reefs. So if victorious, the Philippines can force china to pay by deducting from its debt.
Forget useless negotiation where both sides would not budge…IT IS NOW TIME FOR ARBITRATION TO SHOW THE WORLD WHO IS RIGHT❓🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
The Republic of China in Taiwan also claims sovereignty over the area where the mainland and the Philippines conflict. What should the United States do if there is a conflict between Taiwan and the Philippines?
Philippines is a passive and gentle country, but chinese behavior against the Philippines is already put the country in the corner and we need to fight back.
china must should uphold INTERNATIONAL RULES BASED ORDER, UNCLOS ONE AMONG IN PARTICULAR….
china SHOULD RESPECT HONOR THE 2016 PCA-UNCLOS RULING FAVORING THE PHILIPPINES RIGHTFUL LEGAL CLAIMS….🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Only China government created trouble on TERRITORIAL SEA WATER.. If they will follow the international law there will be no trouble.
Philippines are only defending what is truly ,legally, morally belonging to Filipinos . China' s behaviour of greed, deception , bullying ,harrasment need to stop !..In retaliation to water canons attacks by China, Philippines has chosen to take the higher moral grounds ….for now.. If Taiwan wants a democratic governance, and total divorce from China, Taiwanese needs to keep asserting their will…not flip floping. Philippines don"t want nor need a costly war.,.. but need to be prepared for it…
Please ban CHINA Xi Xinping out of the WTO.
13:33 ASEAN is useless for future generations.
Not a single communist Chinese gov set foot in Taiwan…
Communism don't have a single historic foot of claim to Taiwan.
But on the other hand, free Taiwanese government & people has ruled China… they have a historic claim over China.
On South East Asian, not a single communist have step foot on WPS, even Mao hasn't sail to WPS. So the claim of Chinese communist in Spratly or inside Philippines EEZ is a sinking sands, null & void according to International law!
The Philippines a Democratic Christian Peace loving people not for war but for trade and friendship etc
It's taiwan. not south china sea.
Philippines will support our neighbors which includes Taiwan.
Although it is non-lethal weapon,, if the Philippines counter the CCG back with water cannons, the CCP will blame it to the Philippines, and they'll say, "The Philippines started it first". 👏 nice. If you let the CCP control over your sovereignty, there will be no freedom to you. : (to you and to your country.)
台灣怎麼不去保護自己的海域?
Philipines cant even handle manual water canons. Come on mannnnn
life is hard but in a communist country it's hopeless.

If the 200 nautical mile economic zone claimed by the Philippines is used as the basis for sovereignty over the islands. Then Taiwan Island and Kinmen Island should belong to the territory of People's Republic of China.☺
There are many countries around the South China Sea, why is China only in conflict with one US military colony, the Philippines? Because Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei are all sovereign states. They are pawns sacrificed for the good of their country and not for their masters.😛
And the Philippines is suppose to surrender on water canons?
Definitely NOT. Philippines may be a small country but we are decent.
Arbitration or unclos, China wouldnt recognised it, if it was adjudicated by the people who were in the American's pockets.
Philippines is challenging World Order established after WWII. As winner of the war, China regained all of the islands in South China Sea from Japan in 1945. Now, nobody in the west mention this. it is a shame!
