Animal rights advocates are hoping a latest suggestion by the secretariat of a global commerce settlement will push the Canadian authorities to halt imports of endangered monkeys from Cambodia to Canada to be used in medical and pharmaceutical analysis.
Hundreds of dwell long-tailed macaques have been imported into Canada from Cambodia since early 2023, with many going to amenities owned by Charles River Laboratories in Quebec.
