Cambodia’s inside ministry has ordered police to tighten safety round Phnom Penh saying an opposition group is planning a serious protest within the capital on Aug. 17 which it in contrast with the “Shade Revolution” a decade in the past.
The order follows a warning from former prime minister Hun Sen to keep away from a ‘Bangladesh-inspired’ protest led by an abroad group referred to as the Unity for the Nation which he claimed was plotting to oust his son’s authorities by alleging Cambodia was ceding territory to its neighbors.
Authorities stated “Roub Roum Dermbei Cheat” — which has been translated as Unity or United for the Nation — operated on-line utilizing a Telegram channel and had been fashioned out of the Cambodian diaspora with protests staged in Japan, South Korea and Australia final weekend.
