Police have arrested eight Thai nationals and one Lao nationwide for his or her alleged involvement in an in depth drug trafficking operation following an investigation that spanned a number of weeks.
The case started on 15 January when authorities obtained a tip-off a few group of overseas nationals suspected of participating in unlawful actions in Pak San district. Over the course of 5 days, police carried out surveillance, confirming the group’s involvement within the trafficking of unlawful medication, Bolikhamay’s Public Safety reported.
On 21 January, authorities tracked the suspects driving a black automobile with Thai license plates, touring from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thailand, towards Vientiane Capital, Laos. Police adopted the car and ultimately intercepted it, resulting in a major drug seizure.
The authorities uncovered 97 bundles of methamphetamine, totaling 194,000 tablets, together with 15 kg of cough syrup, a methamphetamine mixing machine, 154 kg of precursor chemical substances, 30 kg of methamphetamine, 5 kg of white powder, kratom leaves, and bottles of food-grade perfume.
On the scene, eight Thai nationals had been arrested. An extra investigation led to the apprehension of a Lao nationwide, recognized as Sithan, a resident of Pakkading district. Sithan was allegedly working with the group.
Along with the medication, police seized a pistol with 5 bullets, a black Vigo pickup truck, one other methamphetamine mixing machine, 50 kg of caffeine-mixed methamphetamine, 20.4 kg of orange methamphetamine mixing brushes, 80 tablet compactors, and 4 sticks of skunk explosives.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have but to reveal the authorized penalties or punishments for these concerned within the trafficking operation.
This bust highlights continued efforts by Laos’ regulation enforcement to fight drug trafficking and dismantle worldwide prison networks working within the area.
