How can you know when you order a drunk unless it's a sealed branded beverage? The person supplying the poison has gotten away with it? Because I heard no mention of a perpetrator. They should be trailed in an international court.

I stayed in a town in Laos. I quickly worked out it was a dangerous place, and me and my girlfriend locked ourselves in the room until the boat came to pick us up in the morning. A Swiss girl who arrived with us also stayed in her own hotel bar all night for safety, not venturing out, she sat and spoke to hotel staff. Those hotel staff passed her things under the table and stole them – laptop, phone, purse, passport, every single thing she had except the bag itself. I guess we are fair game for being 'rich', ie backpackers living on a tenner a day. Before we even left the UK a friend warned me about this town, but didnt go into any detail, which I wish he had. And at the border the police told us 'Don't trust anyone, and dont hand your passport to anyone'.

Why say spiked? It's bootleg booze/monshine done wrong so it contains ethanol too, these kind of things happen in east asia before and it's usually in places serving very cheap drinks or "buckets". nobody spiked the drinks – spiking sounds like doing it on purpose… no… it was all about money… probably and allegedly 😅
