Amazing documentary! The pronunciation of "Hmong" is spot on. Every other key words… unfortunately needs to be practiced. Although the language adopted the English alphabet, words are not pronounced in the way of how it's spelt.
Out of all Asian ethnicity Koreans and Hmongs look very similar.
All the Hmong, Mien, Lahu, Laos and Thai should thank to the Vietnam War.
Just like kirats yakthungs of Nepal
As old as any tales shared through elders, Hmong/Miao why they no longer have blonde hair and blue eyes, the blood was mixed with Chinese. At the end of their San Miao Kingdom, all males over the age of 7 were killed, and all females were given and or sold to royalty and or military as concubines. The genocide of the entire group was almost extinct, as per any fallen kingdom. Anything and everything about this group will silenced and burned as per China. A Chinese professor nearly 20 years ago wrote a website for the San Miao Kingdom and his studies were about Hmong/Miao. Although he warned me then, he was told many times by officials in China, that this is a topic he should abandon. It's truly heartbreaking that most wouldn't even know of their origins, those who want to speak of the actual existence of Hmong will be silenced. There will be plenty who will pose as elders, even if they do not know of their exact origin and how they came to exist in the United States, who are the ones who made it possible for them to be here. Do not forget who you are, and what was done to your people through China and then the United States, you are Hmong. If the Hmong does not love and value the Hmong, who will? As said through many centuries…
Thank you for this video. Great work.
Can you do one about the Karen people.
My mother's first husband was in the Vietnam War. He told my mother that if wasn't for the Hmong people. He wouldn't have survived the Vietnam War. He spoke very high of the Hmong community!!
I'm hamong.
Come to ChiangMai, near Doi Suthep and visit the hill tribe at Hmong Doi Pui Village and meet talented, wonderful people.
I need answer yes or no
When visiting Vietnam I stumbled on the most beautiful Hmong young women. They were so stunning that it was hard not to be awestruck by their beauty. Flawless skin and the most striking facial features. No makeup made these ladies even more fascinating. Just bare breathtaking natural and innocent beauty.
wow, this video was really informative and beautifully done! i appreciate the effort put into sharing the rich culture of the Hmong people. however, i wonder if the focus on survival might overshadow some of their achievements and contributions to society. it seems like there’s so much more to their story that isn’t always highlighted. what do you think?
I used to play sepak takraw (foot volleyball). A lot of Hmong teams are really good. Though they probably picked up the game from Lao and Thai, instead of being a traditional Hmong game. Still, sepak takraw is part of all the Hmong celebrations in America.
Their real name is miao not hmong .. before 1980 never had name hmong in the southeastasia until miao peoples got to USA then they changed to call hmong… hmong is fake name
here in America.. if meow peoples did somethings good then they said they were hmong.. if they did somethings bad , stinks then said they were Lao . if lao want to abandon out of lao land then they said they were lao .. but if lao respect them need help from them then they said they were meows not lao they want to divide the lao land to make meows country
Thank you for the history coverage of my people.
While the narration is mostly correct, the illustration is AI generated and is not reflective of actual Hmong. For example, @6:08 – We hunt with crossbows, not bows. The "Txiv Neeb" is depicted similar to that of a Jewish priest – which is inaccurate. People get influenced by what they see as much, if not more, than what they hear.
